AP English Lit: What are we up to now?

We have learned bout the Vietnam War, preparing to read Atonement and The Things We Carried. We’ve looked at songs and poems during the Vietnam War and war in general. For Example: Turn, Turn, Turn by Pete Seeger, My Papa’s Waltz by Theodore Roethke, Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater, Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen, This Land is Your Land by Woody Guthrie, and Same Blues by Langston Hughes. As a class, we read between the lines of  each poem and/or song and we realize the true meaning behind the words and what message was expressed.

This class has really helped me to open up my mind about life, experiences offered, and decision-making. I am looking forward to what is next on our agenda. If you don’t have AP English Lit, I recommend you do so as soon as possible. Take the challenge. Trust me, it’s worth it!
